Katey J. Halbert is an influential musician and teacher based in Central Iowa.

BIOGRAPHY
Hornist Katey J. Halbert is a performer, teacher, and clinician living in Des Moines, Iowa. At home on the concert stage, she has performed with various symphony orchestras across the country. While living in Ohio she performed with the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus, West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Michigan Philharmonic, Central Ohio Symphony, Newark-Granville Symphony, McConnell Arts Center Chamber Players and Opera Project Columbus. Now as a resident of Iowa, she has been a frequent performer with the Quad Cities Symphony and the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony.
As a teacher she currently is on faculty at Central College in Pella, Iowa. Previously, she has served on the faculty of Muskingum University, Marietta College, and Mount Vernon Nazarene University. While teaching at the collegiate level she has taught private lessons, organized studio class, and coached numerous chamber ensembles. She was also a member of the Muskingum University Faculty Brass Quintet. She has maintained a successful private studio since 2009 and her students have gone on to participate in many prestigious youth symphonies, all-state ensembles, and summer programs including Blue Lake Fine Art Camp, Ohio and Iowa’s All-State Ensembles, and the Columbus Youth Symphony. She spends her summers on faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.
